Name of Job: Assistant Intake Worker:  For Ontario Psychotherapy and Counseling Referrals for students in the program and graduates (OPC Referral Directory)

Job Description:
Potential clients call or submit and intake form to the OPC referral directory and the clinical supervisor reviews the submission and assigns an appropriate therapist for the potential client. The volunteer will then contact the client through phone or email, informing them of the assigned therapist.
Scripts are provided for the volunteers. The volunteer then records all contact information in the OPC excel database.

·       Post-secondary education in process
·       Excellent computer skills – Excel & Word.
·       Strong organizational, planning & time management skills.
·       Must have good communication skills for client contact and collaboration with faculty.


Clinical Supervisor will meet with volunteer to demonstrate the intake process and procedures and introduce the candidate to the information gathering and database networks. On-going training and mentoring will continue throughout duration of volunteer position.

 The clinical supervisor will meet with the volunteer occasionally to review processes and procedures and to troubleshoot any difficulties. The volunteer has regular access to the clinical supervisor through email and text when needed.


Certificate of volunteerism, professional reference upon request, invitation to attend professional development lectures and workshops on psychotherapy with a complimentary registration.

  •  Training Meetings are held in St. Catharines
  • Complimentary lectures for volunteers are held on Saturdays in Toronto

This volunteer position can be done remotely, mostly by using e-mail.
